Alicia Young
Founding Managing Partner
Finn Partners
UConn alumna Alicia Young is the founding managing partner at Finn Partners, a New York City-based marketing communications company providing public relations services for customers worldwide.
After earning her UConn bachelor’s degree with a major in journalism and communications in 1994, Young began her career as a correspondent for The Hartford Courant. She spent the next 20-plus years working in multiple positions at public relations agencies, both large and small. She has most frequently supported companies in the technology and consumer sectors, including Microsoft, GE, The North Face, Reebok and Hotels.com.
Finn Partners was founded in 2011 and Young has been actively involved in integrating new partners into the agency, from London to New York to Nashville. “Our entrepreneurial spirit is constantly fueling new ideas for a rapidly evolving industry, and I feel that my career is still progressing. In my view, there is always another client, colleague or company that I want to meet, work with or learn from,’’ she said. “I am excited for what lies ahead.’’
Today’s ultra-competitive business environment requires leaders to continuously refresh their knowledge, she said. “Throughout my career, I’ve helped companies of all sizes and industries establish or maintain a leadership position through effective reputation management,’’ she said. “Today, brands face enormous challenges—to be authentic; to react; to connect; and sometimes, to recover from missteps in our dynamic and complex environment.’’
