Elicia Pegues Spearman has had a dual career track as a senior-level in-house employment attorney and human resources executive with global experience in the healthcare and manufacturing industries. She is known as a strategic business partner and collaborator who demonstrates courage, creativity, integrity and ability to inspire and influence. She has a passion for people and utilizing core HR functions to enable the business to reach and exceed its strategic initiatives.
Mrs. Spearman is the Vice President of Human Resources for the Hubbell Commercial &Industrial (HCI) Group at Hubbell Incorporated. She has a dual reporting relationship as she reports to the Group President for HCI and the Executive Vice President of Human Resources for Hubbell. Mrs. Spearman is responsible for managing all human resources matters for HCI including domestic and global locations in China, Mexico and Switzerland. Hubbell Incorporated is an international manufacturer of quality electrical and electronic products for a broad range of non-residential and residential construction, industrial and utility applications. With revenues of $3.4 billion, Hubbell Incorporated corporate headquarters is located in Shelton, CT.
Prior to her promotion to the VP of Human Resources role, Mrs. Spearman was hired by Hubbell in March of 2015 to serve as their Chief Employment Counsel reporting to the General Counsel. In this role she provided labor and employment advice and training related to workplace investigations, sexual harassment and other relevant employment law topics.
Prior to joining Hubbell, Mrs. Spearman held several leadership positions at Aetna, Inc. a Fortune 500 healthcare company headquartered in Hartford, CT. She worked in the Legal Department as Employment Counsel for six years before moving over to Human Resources where she held a number of roles, including Head of Employee Relations for the enterprise and served as the HR Business Partner for Senior Finance Executives.
Mrs. Spearman has had a lifetime of community involvement and mentors several professionals and students. Her service spans the decades and expands to local and national organizations. Additionally, she was the Acting Director and Board President for Children in Placement, a CASA foster youth advocacy agency. She currently serves as Chairman of the International Leadership Fellows Committee of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Mrs. Spearman graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology from Wellesley College and received her juris doctor degree from Case Western Reserve School of Law. She is married to Livie V. Spearman, III and they have one teenage daughter who attends Hopkins.
