Timothy B Folta joined the University of Connecticut in 2013. Before arriving in Connecticut, he served as Associate Professor and Brock Family Chair in Strategic Management at Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management. Folta is also Co-Director of the UCONN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Consortium, Director of the Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Fellow of the University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study, and Visiting Professor at LUISS Business School (Rome).He received a Ph.D. and M.S. from Purdue University.

Professor Folta is a leading expert on entrepreneurship and corporate strategy, and his research analyzes why certain decisions or resource configurations lead to successful market entry or inspire market exit. His research is regularly published in top journals and has garnered a number of international awards. He is Associate Editor of Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and on the editorial boards of Journal of Business Venturing, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategy Science. In his previous appointment at Purdue University, Professor Folta developed interdisciplinary courses in medical device entrepreneurship and life science entrepreneurship and advised and helped launch a number of technology ventures. He teaches undergraduate, masters, executives, and Ph.D. students.
